Wolrd Nature Photography Awards 2025
Winner - The Lily Pad by Robert Middleton
The drone photograph captures fishermen harvesting anchovies off the coast of Phu Yen in Vietnam. Amid this tranquil beauty, an undercurrent of concern adds depth to the moment. The issue of overfishing, even on this seemingly small scale, looms large, casting a shadow over the delicate balance of marine ecosystems. This scene reminds us of our interconnectedness with nature and our responsibility to act as stewards of the earth. This was part of a press release and was featured in Forbes, The Telegraph, The Guardian, BBC Wildlife amongst others.

This photo was part of the set that I took off the coast of Vietnam during anchovy season. A close up of the fishermen in action, with the mesmerising nets swirling and filling out the frame. This photo was also featured in Decagaon’s “The Essence of H20” as well as being an honourable mention in the HIPA sustainability awards 2024

This set was taken in Mu Cang Chai, which is a rural location in the North West of Vietnam. During the rainy season, the rice terraces flood and collect water, which in turn create some amazing reflections when photographed from above.
